There’s a certain kind of magic that fills the studio as Christmas begins to draw near — that in-between time when the air feels still and twinkly, the kettle is always on, and the first brushstrokes of winter begin to appear on paper.
The Christmas Artist Muse Cards have been one of my favourite projects of the year. They have taken so much work but the process has been magical and cosy — a few pencil sketches scattered across my desk, scraps of colour swatched onto torn bits of paper, and plenty of cups of tea drank. Slowly, those ideas start to take shape: a robin in flight, a cluster of mistletoe, & a little robin perched on a snowman's head.
Each element is hand-painted in watercolour, edited, cleaned up and placements adjusted and always with that delicate, whimsical handpainted touch that ties the collection together. I love capturing that feeling of nostalgia and warmth; like a storybook winter’s day tucked between the pages of a journal.
My first set of Christmas Artist Muse Cards were inspired by classic Christmas elements — scattered with my favourite floral touches.
Once the artwork is complete, I scan, refine, and piece everything together — matching envelope liners, wax seals, and printed patterns that make the collection feel like a tiny world of its own.
It’s a slow process, but one that feels like a true reflection of the season: thoughtful, gentle, and filled with heart.
So as the lights twinkle and the first frost settles, I hope these Christmas Artist Muse Cards bring a little of that magic into your creative world — an invitation to pause, paint, and find beauty in the softest moments of winter. ✨
